Special Effects Movie
In this project, we were assigned to make a movie that stressed chemistry concepts in our own creative way. We are allowed to make our own movie, replicate an already existing movie, or create a new trailer for a movie that is coming out soon. My group chose to do a rendition of the movie Star Wars. Tony and I and our movie as you will see in the embedded video, play Yoda and Luke respectively. Cole and Jonathan edited the film behind the scenes. For our set, we used the STEM building that was built by a blend of students, parents, and contractors. We put black and green paper up around the room to make the effect of Tony and I being in a swamp. We used effects such as dry ice and water and a fog machine to create fog obviously. We have explained the chemistry concepts behind each of these effects in our video. Unfortunately during the uploading process we lost some of our footage explaining the chemistry concepts and had to redo them.
Reflection
In this project my peaks that we had was dealing with difficult situations and using the materials and knowledge that was given to us during the labs we did in class and taking full advantage of them and making a good movie. Some of the things I would improve on if we were to do this project again would be, using our time better as we couldn't bring this movie into its full potential. Next time we know that we should plan our movie out in it in full, and then begin to film and not just try and figure it out as we go. In reflection I had a fun time doing this project and I would definitely recommend any teacher to give this challenge to his or her students in the future.
